It’s as busy as ever here at Active Arts. We’ve been working on our short and mid-term programming and things are starting to come together for our Festival of Light on the 14th November. Many of you may have seen the event advertised in Vale Mail, and I’ll post something more detailed about it on here in the next day or two. The evening follows on from last year’s hugely successful MOBO night, which marked Black History Month. This year, we’re building on that success and going for something even more ambitious and exciting. The event will boast a vibrant mix of live music and dance – from both local and regional performers – world cuisine, and a spectacular light procession through the Vale.
On another note, tomorrow Active Arts will be interviewing for a freelance Development Officer. This is a new, short-term (in the first instance) strategic role, which is designed to support the Steering Commitee in raising funds for our programme of arts activities on Castle Vale. The person in post will also help to raise the profile of the group and its work regionally. We’re really excited about this development and what it could mean for the arts in this area. I’ll announce the name of the successful candidate soon and hopefully you’ll come across him/her in the near future.
