2015 was the year of The Butterfly Effect, which saw us build on and develop programming and partnerships from the Year of Celebration.
The Butterfly Effect promoted the idea that by doing something small for your community, from volunteering 1 hour a year or being part of a community event to helping out at weekly activity, that it can have a large positive impact on someone else which helps to transform the place they live.
The £50,000 secured from the People’s Millions Big Lottery funding plus the match funding we put in place covered the cost of: professionals, who trained and supported individuals in a range of areas; some of the event and activity costs to support ideas developed by local people; marketing and PR costs to communicate and promote the project and associated activities; costs that supported volunteers (out of pocket expenses, refreshments, volunteer uniform); freelance Project Manager time; documentation costs (photography and a short film capturing the story of the project and inspiring people to get involved); some overhead costs.
The Butterfly Effect activities included:
- Developing Vale Makers
- The Vale Challenge/Community Picnic
- Castle Vale Community Awards
- The Last Leaf sculpture completion and launch
- The Butterfly Effect Production (Where My Heart Is)
