Awards 2014 A Huge Success

Awards 2014Thank you to all that turned out last Saturday to celebrate the awards evening and recognise all the nominees and winners.

We had a great event with those who have attended before saying it was the best yet and those who were new to the event exclaiming that they didn’t know what a great evening it was going to be.

There was a 30% increase on votes from last year.  With the highest number yet making sure they completed the printed or online forms.

We’ve updated the Awards 2014 page so that you can see who all the winners are, as well as the shortlist of the Unsung Hero and Year of Celebration Awards that came form the open vote.  There are also links to the Tyburn Mail for some of the pictures taken on the night – thank you to Clive for some great images.

While we’re thanking people also a big thankyou to the team behind a great buffet (Ms Newell, Tezlin and Asha), to Ashlee Walsh for being the presenter on the night, to the sponsors and those who presented, to those who received on behalf of missing winners, to Michael Hayes for his brilliant performances and especially to Trevor Evans and Ashley Edwards for transforming the school hall into a glamorous venue plus all the technical support.

It was great to see the nominees be recognised for the time they give in a range of different ways and all the winners faces at the moment of surprise when Ashlee opened the golden envelopes.  For a moment we didn’t have one of the winners but just as we thought the formal part of the evning was over Brian Cragg arrived after his bowls match and we re-delivered his award much to his surprise.

We’re already thinking about 2015 so make sure you are to.  We’re going to be setting a date very soon to get it in your diaries. Plus start thinking of who you could nominate and if there are additional awards categories we should include.  We had a great mixture of people in 2014 from the names you might expect to those you don’t and of all ages and different backgrounds.  There’s no excuse Castle Vale, you get to influence who is recognised so get thinking and get in touch with us.
